The Superfrog Arcade

Here are all the clones of Superfrog, or Superfrog-based games, available.

Chaosfrog – This is a tribute game for Superfrog, recreating the entire thing for Windows! Exciting stuff! This is a link to the site as the game is still in-development. This is the English version; the original site (in German) is here.

The Adventures of Spud! – By Thingy & Thingy. Scratch a hole through your skull as you solve the Witch’s fiendish puzzles, but make sure you read the manual first!

Superfrog Project – I’m not sure exactly what this is, but it appears to be a Polish “sequel” to Superfrog. There isn’t a demo yet so I’ve linked to the YouTube video. Thanks to DJ Suchar for putting me on to this.

Superfrog Clone – This is an excellent game by Tom. It’s akin to Superfrog, with the same music, but different coding and graphics – and a different hero! Here you’ll control a lizard! It’s only three levels, unfortunately.

Superfrog vs Space Invaders – As the name implies! Thanks to Juice for this random, brilliant (and very addictive) crossover game!

SpaceFrog – Another game from Juice! Very simple – point and click – but oh-so-frustrating!

Lithium Dream SF – An in-development Windows-based version of Superfrog by Lithium Dream. Alas, this project seems to have stopped, so this is the most recent version.

X-Treme Frog – This is a demo of a game by James Moorehead.

Heart – A ridiculously addictive, and wonderfully pointless, game, made by Salvatore Pagano for his girlfriend. It is based heavily on Project-F, using the same music and the same background – and some of the same enemies too!

Blob Bob – Hey, look, yet another Superfrog clone. You can play this one online.

Super-Lizzy – This project has been shelved, unfortunately. See here for more information.

There is also an arcade game featuring Superfrog, cunningly titled Superfrog Arcade. You can play this straight off the web without having to download it. However, you most probably will need the Vitalize! Plugin to play it – so if you don’t already have it, go get it – it’s a small download, and a very useful plugin.

Controls: The arrow keys will move Superfrog – space bar shoots directly upwards. Avoid contact with the balls and the Witch – each collision with either will cost you a life, and you only get 10 of these. Pressing return will shoot Spud, but you only get to shoot him five times. To collect him just touch him. Spud will often shoot sideways, rather than up – he’s not very accurate, though. You can also shoot him sideways rather than upwards. The Witch cannot be hurt, so just stay out of her way. The game will end when you lose 10 lives – try to get a high score!
