Introduction

Throughout my three years reading English at Nottingham Trent University, I was a staff writer on the reviews team for the student newspaper Platform, commissioned to provide arts and game reviews on a bi-weekly basis. In my second year we introduced the pull-out section Sessions, devoted to reviews, and I was part of the team which put this together.

After university, I was a founding staff member of the now defunct video game website realvg.org. To write the reviews, I worked through games of various formats and on different systems. These reviews were also often requested by the games suppliers, as a form of feedback on new gaming. The contributions to this site required specialist knowledge – we were aiming at a gaming audience that valued the honest opinions of other gamers, success proved by the site’s popularity over three years.

All of these reviews were published under by nom de plume, “Pooka”.

This portfolio is intended to serve as an introduction to my work. On request I can provide many more articles from the publications mentioned. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information – remove the ‘nospam’ from the e-mail address provided.
